Explore the music, food, history, and culture of the Gullah Geechee people. Learn about the preservation and prevalence of this unique African heritage in the Low Country of South Carolina. During our program studying this culture, we will visit many sites that are culturally and historically important within this culture, as well as the culture and history of the United States as a whole.
Stay in a historic schoolhouse, kayak in local waterways, and step back in time and stroll the streets of Charleston, South Carolina. You do not want to miss this unique opportunity to study and travel to this global community. Some additional highlights include eating at the famous Gullah Grub restaurant, visiting the International African American Museum, the Slave Mart Museum, and hands-on activities such as sweet grass basket weaving, indigo dyeing, and much more.
